Sofia. The European Union would provide macroeconomic and financial assistance to Belarus only in case the country fulfils the credit conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said the European Commissioner for External Relations and Neighbourhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner, as quoted by the Russian RIA Novostri.
"It is too early now to speak about the eventual size of the financial aid of the EU for Belarus," Waldner stated after the talks with the foreign minister of Belarus Sergey Martinov. Commissioner Waldner also stressed that the activation of the bilateral EU-Belarus relations would also depend on the democratic reforms and improvement of the situation with the human rights in the country.
