Beltelecom introduces Minsk IPTV service

Belarusian national fixed line operator Beltelecom has launched an IPTV service in Minsk, according to Kanstantsin Tsikar, Director General of the company, speaking at a recent news conference. The official said the new service will be deployed in other parts of the Republic from this autumn, adding 'IPTV will be quite a commercial service on which Beltelecom is planning to earn money.' Mr Tsikar said that Beltelecom received around 500 applications for the service in the first three days. It plans to charge a one-off payment of BYR30,000 (USD14) for IPTV subscribers, plus a monthly rental of BYR40.000. Beltelecom's IPTV offering currently carries 20 TV channels, Tsikar said.
