Belarus GDP in H1 up by 10.4%

Interfax quoted the Statistics and Analysis Ministry of Belarus as saying that Belarus saw GDP grow at a rate of 10.4% in the first half of the year compared with the first half last year.

According to the statistics, the value of goods and services produced in the period amounted to BYR 62.2 trillion up by 13% in absolute terms.

Belarusian GDP totaled BYR 96.1 trillion in 2007, an increase of 8.2% in constant prices. GDP growth in 2006 was 10%. GDP is forecast to grow 8% to 9% in 2008 under the base forecast approved by the president's office. The government has targeted GDP growth of 11%.
