Belarus GDP grew at 10.4% pace in H1

MINSK. July 10 (Interfax) - Belarus saw GDP grow at a rate of 10.4% in the first half of the year compared with the first half last year, the Statistics and Analysis Ministry said in a statement.

The value of goods and services produced in the period amounted to 62.2 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), in increase of 13% in absolute terms.

Belarusian GDP totaled 96.1 trillion Br in 2007, an increase of 8.2% in constant prices. GDP growth in 2006 was 10%.

GDP is forecast to grow 8%-9% in 2008 under the base forecast approved by the president's office. The government has targeted GDP growth of 11%.

The exchange rate on July 10 was 2,122 Br/$1.
