Belarus Marks Its National Day in Seoul

Amb. Guryanov Hosts Reception at Seoul's Shilla Hotel

Belarus Ambassador to Seoul Alexander E. Guryanov and his wife Mrs. Tatiana Rusetskaya hosted a reception for Belarus National Day on June 30, 2008. The celebration was held at the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Jong-gu, Seoul.

Among the distinguished guests in attendence were Mr. Kim Seung-Yee, minister of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs; Hong Ki-Hwa, president of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency); Mr. Vladimir Koutakhov, Seoul bureau chief of of the Russian news agency Itar-Tass ; and Mr. Bernhard Brende, general manager of the Grand Hilton Seoul.

The 150-plus guests included some 20 top foreign envoys serving in Seoul, scores of top CEOs of local and foreign companies, and local media people.

In his speech Amb. Guryanov said, "Once Russia invaded Belarus and controlled the language, culture, and traditions. But seventeen years ago we became independent. Since then, the people of Belarus have redeveloped everything, especially our relationship with Korea since February of 1992. Belarus and South Korea continue to work together in the fields of science and technology."
