Belarus ready for energy security cooperation with EU

MINSK, July 13 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko has confirmed the readiness for energy security cooperation with the European Union.

"We have offered energy security cooperation to the European Union. That is the main thing we should do," he said at the Belarussian Metallurgical Plant on Friday. "It is the question of the security of transport systems needed by Europeans. We are ready to develop this cooperation."

"No practical steps have been taken as yet," he added, complaining of European bureaucracy.

He also thinks that the significance of Belarus for Europe will grow alongside the energy security problem. "I am absolutely sure of that," he said.
