Belarus roots for Tharoor

NEW DELHI, July 14: Belarus has assured support for India's candidature of Mr Shashi Tharoor for the post of UN Secretary General, while condemning the Mumbai blasts that took a toll of over 200 lives.

Visiting Minsk from 12-14 July, the minister of state for industry, Dr Ashwani Kumar, called on the Belarusian Prime Minister, Mr Sergei Sirdorsky, who assured his government's support for Mr Tharoor. The Belarus PM also assured Dr Kumar of working with India on major global issues including the G-4 Resolution on United Nations Security Council, an official communique said here today. SNS
