Belarusian farmers to start mass harvesting campaign of grains

As for July 24 Belarus farms milled about 200.000 tonnes of new crop grains, farms of Brest oblast cover 104.000 tonnes of the produced volume. Agricultural organizations of Grodna oblast milled almost 60.000 tonnes, those of Minsk oblast - 33.000 tonnes. Vladimir Kuratnik, deputy director of central administration of crop production of Ministry of Agriculture and Food in Belarus Republic, informed about that.

According to him, harvesting campaign has started in all regions of the republic. Harvesting campaign passes selectively, according to grains ripening. As for the indicated date, spiked cereals are downed on 74.000 ha, that is a little more than 3% of total area. The official noted that farms should surpass 5%-border by the evening of July 24; this would mean that mass harvesting campaign started.

The average yield across the republic is 2.74 tonnes/ha, down 2.7 centers as compared to the last year. However, according to the estimates of Ministry of Agriculture and Food specialists, the yield would increase when more farms would start harvesting and after harvest of more productive sectors. At the moment burned and beaten-down sectors are harvested first. The highest yield was noted in farms of Grodna oblast - 3.5 tonnes/ha, and of Minsk one - 3.3 tonnes/ha. The yield in farms of Vitebsk and Mogilevsk oblasts is higher as compared to republic data - about 2.8 tonnes/ha.

V.Kuratnik also informed that by the present moment the farms also downed 37.500 ha of winter rape crop, that is about half of all harvesting area. They milled 59.000 tonnes of oilseeds at average yield of 1.6 tonnes/ha.

Also the farms of republic have started the flax pulling. They worked out already 7.000 ha, that is 9.3% of harvesting area.
