Foreign Minister Meets With Ambassador Of Belarus

Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met July 20 with newly appointed Ambassador of Belarus to Azerbaijan Nikolay Paskevich, according to the Ministry's press center.

The Ambassador presented the copies of credentials to the Minister, and conveyed him greetings from his Belarusian counterpart. He welcomed opening of Belarusian embassy in Baku saying it will strengthen relations between the two countries, and create conditions for their steady development in the future. Mr. Paskevich expressed his country's readiness for all-round cooperation with Azerbaijan, and stressed the importance to increase the two counties' trade, create joint ventures and establish business relations between the capitals. He informed the Minister on the plans to organize here a national exhibition of Belarus, an Azerbaijan-Belarus business forum, and visits of a number of Belarusian businessmen to Azerbaijan.

Minister Mammadyarov described opening the Belarusian Embassy in Azerbaijan as an important factor for development of bilateral relations. He said Azerbaijan is also interested in increase in trade with Belarus, adding that enhancement of the countries' cooperation in other fields including tourism, culture and sport, would be favorable for both sides.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Minister pointed out the importance of Belarus' support of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan noting that the leadership of Azerbaijan is committed to restoration of territorial integrity of the country on the norms and principles of the international law.
