Belarus says could resume full gas transit today

MINSK June 24 (Reuters) - Minsk will resume gas transit to Europe within 8-10 hours if Gazprom (GAZP.MM: Quote) fully pays its gas transit fees, the country's First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, Gazprom said it had paid Belarus $228 million and that this sum represented the entire outstanding debt. Belarus says the total amount is $260 million. (Reporting Andrei Makhovsky, writing Jessica Bachman)
