Ukraine ready to boost gas transit to Europe by 30 billion cubic meters

Interfax-Ukraine

Ukraine's gas transportation system is prepared to boost transit of Russian gas to Europe by 30 billion cubic meters (bcm) a year in order to compensate for any reductions in transit through Belarus, the Fuel and Energy Ministry said.

"We have the technical ability to increase gas transit through our territory by 30 billion cubic meters, but we have not received any official proposals from the Russian partners, nor from the Belarusian colleagues, to increase shipment," Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boiko is quoted in the statement as saying.

Ukraine is hoping for the swiftest possible resolution to the crisis, Boiko said.

It was reported earlier that Gazprom had reduced deliveries to Belarus 60% as of 10:00 a.m. on June 23. Gas transit through Belarus is being conducted in full.
