Belarus To Spend $304 Million on Refinery Modernization

By the end of 2010, the Belarussian government plans to spend 920 billion Belarussian rubles (about 4304 million) on modernizing the country's refineries, Deputy Belarussian Prime Minister Sergey Sidorskiy said in Novopolotsk, BELTA reports.

Sidoarkiy said about 300 billion Belarussian rubles would come in the form of direct foreign investment. He noted that while the Naftan and Mozyr facilities currently produce products meeting European requirements, the difficult economic conditions prevailing in the world make it necessary to concentrate on increasing refining depth. From January to April 2010, over 300 billion Belarussian rubles was spent on improvements at the two sites. Sidorskiy said that the modernization program for this year would enable Mozyr to make 100 percent of its diesel output meet Euro-5 requirements.
