IMF to increase financing to Belarus by $1 bln

MINSK. June 10 (Interfax) - The International Monetary Fund's mission to Belarus has recommended that the IMF Board of Governors increase financing to the country by $1 billion as part of a stand-by program.

The IMF mission has reached an agreement with the Belarusian authorities on the conclusion today of the first report as part of an agreement on a stand-by loan and has thus finished its work in Minsk during the period from April 29 to May 13, Chris Jarvis, head of the IMF mission to Belarus, said on Wednesday.

IMF officials will recommend to the Board of Governors that support to Belarus be increased by 651.4 million SDR, or about $1 billion, he said.
