Belarus and Suriname established diplomatic relations

The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Suriname have established diplomatic relations, with the documents signed in the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the United Nations in New York.

The Joint Communiqu© on establishment of diplomatic relations on behalf of the Republic of Belarus was signed by Andrei Dapkiunas, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations, and on behalf of the Republic of Suriname by Henry L. Mac Donald, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Suriname.

The two sides confirmed their aspiration to develop friendly relations between Belarus and Suriname and their people in accordance with the UN Charter and principles of equality, mutual respect of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, non-interference in domestic affairs.

During a conversation, both sides noted the need to enlarge co-operation between Belarus and Suriname in trade and economy, as well as in the international area, including co-operation between the Permanent Missions of Belarus and Suriname to the UN.
