Oman, Belarus seek ways to enhance trade

(MENAFN - Times of Oman) Business delegates from the Sultanate and the Republic of Belarus yesterday held a series of discussions here on ways to enhance economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides welcomed the establishment of joint companies in various sectors, besides proposing to invest physical and financial resources in other areas, especially in fields of petroleum services and tourism.

While the delegation from the Sultanate was led by Oman Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (OCCI) Chairman Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Vassily V. Ramano, chairman of Belarusian Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (BCCI), led the Belarusian delegation.

Dr Valery Franco, the Honorary Consul of the Sultanate in Belarus, also took part in the meetings.

The Belarusian delegation made an illustrative presentation of the facilities and services offered by their government to businessmen and companies.

Foreign investment

The officials also pointed out foreign investments for the year 2008 had touched $6.5 billion.

The officials later visited Minsk Trucks Company ? one of the biggest automotive manufacturing companies in Belarus which also exports its products to Europe and some Arab countries ? to understand the various phases of manufacturing and branding of vehicles.

The delegation had earlier toured the Belarusian capital, Minsk, where they visited universities, tourist hotspots, besides heritage and historical sites. The delegation also toured mass media centres and commercial centres.
