Belarus and the European Union can broaden mutually beneficial partnership, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko told European Commissioner for External Relations and Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner in Minsk on Monday.
"We sincerely want a good relationship, no matter how much some may dislike that," he said.
"A lot depends on our meeting. What do we want from Europe? We want [Europe] to understand that Belarus is not just the geographic center of the continent but also the place where decent, honest and hard-working people live and an independent and sovereign state," Lukashenko said.
"We want normal relations with the European continent," he concluded.
