Turkmenistan: President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko on an official visit to Ashgabat

President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksander Lukashenko arrived on an official visit to Ashgabat.

Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov and other official persons greeted the honorary guest at the Ashgabat International Airport. The girls and boys dressed in the national costumes offered bread and salt and presented the bouquets of wonderful flowers to the leader of the friendly state.

From the Airport the President's cortege headed for the official residence at the Serdar Hotel.

Today the official ceremony of greeting the Belarusian leader has been held. The Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Aleksander Lukashenko will hold the first round of the top level talks. The documents, which will create new incentives for mutually advantageous and long-term cooperation, are expected to be signed upon concluding the top level talks

In the framework of the visit the leaders of Turkmenistan and Belarus will visit the Lebap Velayat where they will take part in ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the ore-dressing and processing enterprise with the annual capacity of 1.4 million tons of potash fertilizers - the largest one in Central Asia. It will be built in Koytendag Etrap where Turkmen geologists discovered the Garlyk deposit rich in potash salt.

Dozens of the large companies participated in the international tender for construction of the ore-dressing and processing enterprise announced by Turkmenhimiya State Concern. The choice of Belgorhimprom Public Corporation as the major partner of Turkmen chemical industry workers is natural: Belarus ranks among the top four producers of potash fertilizers.

In a word, there is every reason to state that this project will be a landmark in the chronicle of friendship and fraternity between the Turkmen and Belarusian peoples, vividly illustrate constructive collaboration, fruitful international partnership built on goodwill, friendliness and mutual benefit.

The economic aspect of Turkmen-Belarusian cooperation encompasses agriculture, machine building, fuel and energy sector, textile industry. Turkmenistan exports tractors, dump trucks, bulldozers, agricultural machines and motor vehicles. This provides limitless opportunities to intensify mutually advantageous trade and economic partnership based on the scale of the reforms initiated in agricultural sector, water industry and other sectors of Turkmen economy, construction launched throughout the country, a wide range and high quality of oil and gas and products And textiles produced in Turkmenistan.

The Belarusian leader's visit to Ashgabat vividly evidences the willingness of the Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Aleksander Lukashenko to bring the relations between the two countries up to a new level meeting the modern realities and mutual interests. The potential of these time-proved relations is yet to be employed in full. The top level talks in Ashgabat are to initiate a new stage of interstate collaboration.

The ways to implement the top level talks will be the focus of the second meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Belarusian commission for trade and economic cooperation which will be held in the Turkmen capital in the near future.

The versatile programme including the visits to the landmarks of the Turkmen capital and its suburbs is prepared for the honorary guest and the members of the government delegation.
