Belarusian Philosopher, Writer and Civil Activist Alexander Potupa Dies at 64

(PRWEB) June 4, 2009 -- Elena Potoupa would like to honor the memory of her recently deceased father, Alexander S. Potupa.

A Belarusian philosopher, writer and civil activist Alexander Potupa has died in Baraulyany Hospital (Minsk, Belarus) on Monday, June 1st, 2009. He was 64 years old.

Alexander Potupa was born on March 21, 1945 in Sevastopol, Russia. He graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University (psychics department, quantum theory chair) in 1967. He earned a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics & Mathematics in 1970 and has around 50 publications and 30 appearances on international and national conferences in the area of nuclear physics, high energy physics, cosmology, electrodynamics. He performed research work at Physics Institute and Belarusian State University.

In 1989 he founded the Publishing & Printing Company "Eridan", the first private publishing & printing company in Belarus and was honored with the Torch of Birmingham award.

Since 1992 he headed the Centre of Futurology (Prognostics and Sociologic Research). He became Doctor of Philosophy in 1995. Alexander Potupa was the author of more than 100 publications in the press and collected volumes, and 60 speeches at international and country's conferences on issues of prognostics, sociology, political science, economy and law. He was a member of the Belarusian Association of Journalists and a Chairman of the Supervising Committee.

He served as President of Belarusian Association of Entrepreneurs from 2001 to 2007 and has served as Honorable President of BAE since 2008.
