Verimatrix wins IPTV contract with Beltelecom

Verimatrix has won a contract with Belarusian telco Beltelecom to secure the latter's new IPTV service 'Premiere TV' with the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV, as part of an integration with Chinese firm ZTE's end-to-end ZXBIV IPTV Eyewill platform.

The deployment is Verimatrix's first major deployment within the ZTE platform, and enables Beltelecom to offer interactive services including time-shift TV, video on demand and parental controls, along with with broadcast channels. Beltelecom is owned by the Belarusian government, and reportedly controlled 78% of the national ADSL market by the end of 2008.

"Our partnership with Verimatrix offers a formidable IPTV solution for telecommunications operators to extend their networks," said Mr. Fang Hui, General Manager of ZTE Multimedia and Terminal Product Lines. "Beltelecom has invested in a first-class network for voice and data services, and we are able to extend its network to deliver highly-competitive video services to subscribers."

No specific details on the telco's planned launch of its new IPTV service were available at the time of publishing.
