A delegation from Belarus' Ministry of Industry is pleased with their visit to Rigas elektromasinbuves rupnica (Riga Electric Machine Building Works, RER) factory. In a press conference, representatives of the delegation underlined Latvia's important role in the development of Belarus.

Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Gennady Svidersky informed press representatives from LETA that the reciprocal trade turnover between Latvia and Belarus is practically identical but there are sectors in which the trade volume could still be increased.

"The cooperation between our countries is on a high level and we are very content with the interest that is being shown. We hope that during this visit, entrepreneurs will find new cooperation partners," Ambassador of Belarus in Latvia Aleksander Gerasimenko pointed out.

"The development of Belarus is very stable, the annual GDP growth index is around 14%, the inflation rate is around 6%, but it could reach 9% this year," Svidersky explained.

Svidersky informed that Latvia receives a significant number of goods that Belarus exports.

Latvia is among the top ten countries, to which Belarus exports its goods.

During the visit to RER, the delegation of Belarus' Ministry of Industry, headed by Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Gennady Svidersky, got acquainted with the process of production, the new equipment at the factory, and met with Grigorijs Uspenkis, chairman of the board of the company, to discuss economic prospects and the possible development of cooperation.
