5 Belarussian meat, dairy factories to do exports to Russia

MINSK, June 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Five Belarussian meat and dairy factories have been granted permission to export their products to Russia on results of joint inspections by the Russian Federal Veterinarian and Phytosanitary Control Service and the Belarussian Veterinarian Service.

All in all, 20 Belarussian meat and dairy producers have such permits, a source at the Belarussian government told Prime Tass.

A joint team of veterinarian inspectors has checked meat factories in the Gomel and Mogilyov regions, and local producers are waiting for their export licenses.

The Russian service said early this year that Belarus had been regularly breaching veterinarian laws in meat exports. The service said that Belarus was re-exporting Polish meat and committing other violations. Only certified companies were permitted to export dairy products, meat and fish to Russia this March.

The joint inspection began in May.
