Venezuela's Chavez Meets Belarus President

(RTTNews) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, a known critic of Western governments, arrived in the Belarus capital Minsk on Friday as part of his three-country non-aligned nation trip.

The outspoken Venezuelan leader was scheduled to hold talks with Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko, who is similar minded in his approach to the Western governments.

This is the second time Chavez is visiting the former Soviet republic, a nation politically isolated from major Western nations. Lukashenko and Chavez were set to chair a joint meeting of Belarusian and Venezuelan delegations later in the evening. Earlier in the day, Chavez had visited Russia's parliament - the Duma.
