Venezuela president arrives in Belarus

MINSK. June 29 (Interfax) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived in Minsk on Friday for a visit during which he will discuss with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko more extensive economic relations, the Belarusian president's press service said.

The agenda for the talks includes Venezuelan-Belarusian cooperation in the energy sector, the service told Interfax.

"It is planned that the parties will analyze the implementation of agreements reached during the preceding visit of the Venezuelan president to Minsk in July 2006," the service said.

Chavez brought along some Venezuelan officials, his son, daughter, and two grandchildren.

He was met at the airport by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko.
