Belarusian enterprises started harvesting of winter rapeseeds

According to Department of Plant growing of Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Republic of Belarus, enterprises of the Republic started harvesting of winter rapeseeds.

According to the specialists, they harvested plantings from the first 5.500 ha, that is about 3.7% of the total harvesting area. Winter rapeseeds covers 168.000 ha, up 2.3 times as compared to the last year. Plantings are in good condition; that is why they expect for better yield than last year.

The total area of plantings of rapeseeds including spring crop is 218.000 ha. This may provide gross oilseeds yield at 200.000 tons as minimum.

Milling volume of rapeseeds is 5.700 tons at average republic yield at 10.7 c/ha.

According to Ministry of Agriculture of Belarus, rapeseeds are used for rape oil production and for feed industry. In addition, application of rapeseeds for biofuel production is activating. In this connection, they plan to build some plants for biofuel production on rapeseeds basis.
