High-level military delegation visits Belarus

Vietnam and Belarus have exchanged experiences in organising and building up armed forces, improving the quality of military training and management during a visit to Belarus by a high-level delegation of the Vietnam People's Army.

The delegation, led by Lieutenant-General Nguyen Khac Nghien, Chief of the General Staff and Deputy Defence Minister, discussed with the host side orientations to promote co-ordination between the two armies as well as exchange of delegations, personnel training and other matters of common interest in the spirit of cooperation and friendship.

The delegation, guest of General-Lieutenant Sergei Gurulev, Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus , paid a courtesy visit to Defence Minister of Belarus Colonel General Leonid Maltsev.

The minister affirmed that the visit contributed to the friendship and traditional cooperation between the armies and people of the two countries. He praised Vietnam's renovation achievements and wished that the armed forces of the two countries would raise the effectiveness of their cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation worked with the National Committee for Defence Industry and visited the Military Academy, a number of army units and military scientific research establishments and the Stalin historic-cultural site.
