Russia, Germany, Poland, and Belarus create joint railway enterprise

Heads of the railways in Russia, Germany, Poland, and Belarus have signed a declaration on creation of a joint enterprise aimed at increasing the volume of rail freight traffic between Russia and Germany. According to the declaration that was signed yesterday, June 19, the enterprise is called Eurasia Rail Logistics.

The company Russian Railways will own 40,1% of shares, Deutsche Bahn - 34,9%, Polish railways - 15%, and Belarusian - 10%. The joint enterprise will deal with coordination of freight traffic on the route Berlin-Warsaw-Minsk-Moscow-Nizhniy Novgorod. The co-owners hope that the rail traffic between Russia and Germany will increase due to optimization of the logistic process.
