Prime Minister stresses Viet Nam-Belarus traditional ties

Ha Noi, June 7 (VNA) -- Prime Minister Phan Van Khai welcomed Lieutenant General Sukhorenko, Chairman of the Belarus National Committee for Security and his entourage to Viet Nam and said that their visit was evidence of the fine relations between Viet Nam and Belarus.

While receiving visiting Chairman Sukhorenko of the Belarus National Committee for Security in Ha Noi on June 7, Prime Minister Khai said that it was important for the two countries to further boost the cooperative ties, especially in trade and investment.

The Public Security Ministry of Viet Nam and the Belarus National Committee for Security should conduct cooperation programmes in a bid to contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries, he said.

Chairman Sukhorenko expressed his impressions of his current visit to Viet Nam and said he believed that the Viet Nam-Belarus cooperative ties will see fine development. He also expressed his desire to strengthen all-round cooperation with Viet Nam's Public Security Ministry, especially in the control of drugs and child trafficking.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Khanh Toan, Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Security, was also present at the reception.-Enditem
