Russia and Belarus can easily settle whatever differences they might have, if any. A statement to that effect was made by Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko, who said the two countries' presidents always succeeded in sorting out bilateral disputes in one-on-one meetings. Lukashenko views Medvedev as a strong leader by virtue of the recent agreements with Ukraine on the Black Sea fleet and with Norway on the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
