Minsk To Insist On No Crude Duties in Customs Union

Belarus will insist on repealing customs duties on crude and oil products within the Customs Union with Russia and Kazakhstan at the upcoming meeting of the heads of the governments of the three countries in St. Petersburg on May 21, Belarussian Prime Minister Sergey Sidorskiy told President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Ukroil reports.

Earlier, the Russian side had announced it was ready to introduce a duty-free regime on crude and oil products for Belarus once the Single Economic Space was established on the territory of the three countries. Meanwhile, the Belarussian side believes Russian crude should be delivered to Belarus duty free beginning from July 1, 2010, when the Customs Union begins functioning.
