A wall of quilts shows off the skills of women at First Baptist Church, Farmington, who created 60 coverings for residents of the Baptist House of Mercy in Belarus.

The initial plan called for making 30 quilts, one for each bed at the first home for aging Baptists in the Eastern European country. Instead, the 50 women who participated in the outreach effort doubled their output - creating 60 handcrafted quilts.

Each quilt includes a message in Russian: "God loves you and so do we. First Baptist Farmington, State of Missouri."

Twelve members of First Baptist's Seed Sewers Mission Group and several women at The Home embroidered 86 pillowcases. They used iron-on transfers as patterns, and several ladies crocheted edgings on some of the pillowcases.
