Moscow. May 19, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Belarus is ready to consider an opportunity to construct the second phase of the Shklov newsprint mill, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko noted during an opening ceremony of the newsprint mill in Shklov on May 16, The National Legal Internet portal of the Republic of Belarus informed.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the matter concerns the installation of the second papermaking machine, which can be even more cutting-edge. Sales markets for this product are huge and Belarus has raw materials for this.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that "this project will bring revenues in hard currency and will help increase the Shklov regional budget".

The construction of the mill was launched in April 2006. The new facility is expected to produce 40 thousand tonnes of paper a year. The up-to-date equipment will allow the Shklov newsprint mill to produce not only standard newsprint paper but light enameled paper as well.

The Shklov newsprint mill developed a business-plan of development for 2008. In line with the document, this year the mill is expected to utilise 60% of the production capacities. By 2010 the Shklov newsprint mill plans to produce 40 thousand tonnes of paper a year.
