Minsk Gathers Experts In The Field Of The Environmental Ethics From CIS

On the 22-23 May 2008 in Minsk, Belarus in the framework of the 8th International Conference "Sakharov Readings 2008: Environmental Problems of the 21st Century" the Section on "Ecological ethics in the system of bioethical education" will be conducted. The event is organized by the International Sakharov Environmental University with the support of the National Commission of Belarus for UNESCO and the UNESCO Moscow Office.

Principal lines of section's activity:

 Ecological ethics: conceptual model and methodology

 Ecological ethics: responsibilities and risks

 Bioethics: actual problems and growing-points

 Ecoethics and bioethics: boarders of interaction

 Eco- and bioethic education: problems, search and solution

Section's goals and objectives:

 Theoretical review and discussion of actual problems in the field of the environmental ethics and their interaction with bioethics problems in order to work out conceptual model of this new interdisciplinary branches of scientific knowledge

 Identification and validation of the status of separate applied branches of ecological ethics (ecology of nature, human ecology etc.)

 Discussion of the problems of methodical support for the system of continuous ecological and bioethics education of the professionals and population: efforts for setting up curriculums and textbooks on environmental ethics

 Sharing of experience between the countries of post-soviet area.

The section is conducted in cooperation with Belarusian Union of Cinematographers within ecological cinema-TV forum "ECOMIR-2008. Ecological Safety - The Base of HumanVital Activity". The social program provides viewing of screen-, TV- and video films of ethical and ecological subject-matter, meetings with authors, presentation with awards/ prizes and diplomas. For the whole day "Centralny" movie theatre will demonstrate screen-, TV- and video films on environmental ethics subjects for students of International Sakharov Environmental University and schoolchildren.
