Belarussian money supply grows 2.6% in 4 mths

MINSK. May 15 (Interfax) - The broad money supply in Belarus grew by 2.6% in January-April 2007 to 17.966 trillion Belarussian rubles as of May 1, 2007, the country's National Bank reported.

The broad money supply expanded by 2.7% in April 2007, after growing 1.8% in March and 4% in February, but falling 5.7% in January.

Cash in circulation (M0) grew by 8.5% in April 2007 to 2.862 trillion rubles after growing 1.6% in January-April 2007. This was 15.9% of the total money supply as of May 1, 2007, compared to 16.1% at the beginning of 2007.

The M1 money supply (cash and immediate-access ruble deposits) rose 7.2% in April 2007 to 6.594 trillion rubles, or 36.7% of the broad money supply, compared to 40.1% at the beginning of 2007. M1 money supply dropped 6.1% in January-April 2007.
