Tehran, Minsk Underline Boosting of Trade Ties

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran and Belarus reiterated enhancement of mutual trade ties.

The issue was raised during a meeting between Iran's commerce minister Seyed Masoud Mir-Kazemi and Belarusian and Iranian traders and businessmen in Minsk on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the need for the removal of the existing problems and barriers and establishment of a proper atmosphere for the increasing expansion of economic and trade ties between Iran and Belarus, and the Iranian minister called for the implementation of the agreements reached during the last year visit to Tehran by Belarusian president.

Mir-Kazemi also noted an approval by the Iranian parliament urging development of economic relations with Belarus, and said expansion of ties in grounds of banking and inauguration of Iranian banks in Belarus, insurance of export products, settlement of customs issues and solution of standard-related problems are among the main goals pursued during the current visit to Belarus by the Iranian delegation.

He further viewed bolstering of exportable items by Belarus as among effective ways for consolidating the two countries' relations.

Also during the meeting, traders and representatives of the manufacturing units briefed the Iranian minister about the trend of activities in that country.

Elsewhere in separate meetings between traders and businessmen and the head of Iran's Trade Development Organization which was also attended by the Islamic Republic ambassador and the economic attache of the Iranian embassy in Belarus and between the Iranian trade delegation and the Belarusian industries minister, the two sides exchanged views about expansion of ties and called for the removal of the existing barriers.
