Belarus oppositional leaders ask Yushchenko to grant asylum

Leaders of Belarussian oppositional organizations call on President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko to grant asylum to political refugees from Belarus.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, the respective statement was publicized at a press conference in Kyiv today.

Leader of Belarussian "Young Front" Dmitriy Dashkevych, who was arrested for organizing "Chornobyl Path" action in Minsk and was discharged from custody several days ago, coordinator of "Razam" movement Viacheslav Sivchyk, chairman of all-Ukrainian youth NGO "Students Brotherhood" Oleh Yatsenko, and others, took part in the press conference.

They asked the Ukrainian President, "on behalf of the Minsk mMaydan", to raise the question to leaders of the leading world countries, whether Russia, conducting an uncivilized policy, violating all international agreements, and supporting the odious dictator regime, may be a member of G8.

Participants of the press conference also called on rectors of Ukrainian higher educational establishments to consider the opportunity of repressed Belarussian students' studying in Ukraine.

They disclosed to journalists the details of criminal cases, which were brought in Belarus against more than 2 thousand participants of protest actions.
