Belarus: Milinkevich Free, Supporters Arrested

Alexander Milinkevich, the main opposition candidate in Belarus' recent presidential elections, was released from prison May 12 after serving a 15-day sentence for organizing an unsanctioned gathering April 26 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. Upon Milinkevich's release, 10 of his supporters, who had gathered to greet him out side the prison, were detained by police under charges of participating in an unsanctioned gathering.
