Third of adults access internet in Belarus - study

Almost one third (31.8%) of the population aged over 16 years in Belarus had internet access at end-2010, according to Belarusian statistics. Of these, 25.8 percent of the population accessed the internet at home, reports Marketing. A total of 44 PCs were registered per 100 households in 2010, up from 40 PCs per 100 households in 2009. Two thirds (66.2%) of the population aged16 to 29 years accessed internet in the country, falling to 37.9 percent for those aged 30 to 49 years, and 9.1 percent for the over 50s. The internet access indicator totaled 37.9 percent in urban areas and 14.6 percent in rural areas.
