Belarus to Supply Dairy Products to China

April 9 - The Grodno oblast intends to deliver dairy products to China, acting chairman of the Grodno oblast executive committee Ivan Zhuk told reporters following the meeting with Governor of the Gansu province Lu Hao on 5 April.
The sides are mulling over the deliveries of baby food and dairy products of Grodno companies to China. Grodnomyasomolprom, for instance, has already held talks with the Chinese importer of dry milk products. The sides have agreed on the delivery of a trial consignment (100 tonnes) of milk powder.
Volkovysk-based Bellakt company will be the main exporter of dairy products to China, deputy chairman of the Grodno oblast executive committee Alexander Rusanov told BelTA. Novogrudok and Lida dairies, Smorgon Dairy Products will be the other suppliers. A delegation of Grodno companies will travel to China on a business visit in July-August. The Grodno delegation will take part in the EXPO-2010 in Shanghai. The Belarusian delegation will also travel to the Gansu province to specify the concrete volumes of deliveries and sign the relevant contracts.
Apart from dairy products, the Grodno oblast representatives are going to conclude an agreement on deliveries of the Neman Glassworks products to China. The Belarusian glassware is very popular in China, according to Alexander Rusanov. Processed goods and alcoholic beverages are also among the potential items of Belarusian export to China.
Apart from that, the Grodno oblast is interested in joint companies and Chinese investments in economy and tourist infrastructure, according to Ivan Zhuk. The Chinese businessmen, in turn, said that they are ready to establish joint ventures both in Belarus and in China. The Chinese business circles are eager to participate in the construction of cement works in the Grodno oblast and social infrastructure of the would-be Belarusian nuclear power plant.
