Mavel turbines for Grodnenskaya project, Belarus

Czech Republic-based manufacturing and engineering company Mavel is to provide turbines and related technology for the Grodnenskaya hydroelectric project on the Neman River in Belarus, with commissioning expected in 2011.

Mavel will supply five double regulated horizontal PIT turbines with runner diameters of three meters, Mavel type KP3000K4, to the project, which is owned by RUP Grodnoenergo. Mavel will also supply generators, hydraulic units, gearboxes and control systems.

Each turbine will utilize the head of seven meters and flow of 60m3/sec. The combined expected installed output will be just under 19MW.

Financing for the project was procured from the Czech Export Bank earlier this year.
