Iran to open copper wire factory in Belarus

TEHRAN - Iran's copper wire production factory in Belarus will be inaugurated next week.

Iranian Industries and Mines Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian will attend the opening ceremony in Minsk, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting reported.

The project comes on stream at the cost of $8 million. Iranian private sector has funded the costs.

The unit is projected to produce 12,000 tons of copper wire in the first year which will be raised up to 50,000 tons in the second year.

The factory's raw materials will be exported from Iran to Belarus. Once the unit comes on stream the two countries' trade value will be raised up to $500 million per year from the current figure of $100 million
