Ex-Kyrgyz President in Minsk - Lukashenko

Former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev is now in Minsk with his family, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday. He said that Bakiyev transfer was organized by some "corresponding Belarusian service". Lukashenko stressed that in Minsk Bakyiev is under protection of the Belarusian state and his personal protection. After Bakiyev left Kyrgyzstan on April 16 for Kazakhstan his location was unknown. The Belarusian president said that he has ordered that humanitarian aid to the Kyrgyz people should be organized.

As a result of the coup on April 7-8 in Kyrgyzstan President Kurmanbek Bakiyev was removed from power. The interim government has promised to conduct the constitutional reforms in three years after holding the national referendum on the constitution, and to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in the next 6 months.
