Belarus to overcome crisis consequences in 2010 -- Pres.

MINSK, April 20 (Itar-Tass) - Belarus should fully overcome the negative consequences of the world financial and economic crisis this year, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in his annual address to the Belarusian nation and the National Assembly (parliament) of the country here on Tuesday.

"This year we should fully overcome the consequences of the crisis and, as a minimum, should reach the pre-crisis development rate," he stressed. In his opinion, Belarus should come out of the crisis as a stronger and more competitive country. "We vitally need a qualitative breakthrough in the national economy," Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian president spoke about the drafting of an energy strategy of Belarus, which would become "the main direction of work of all branches of power, because this is the main factor of ensuring the sovereignty and independence of our country."
