Belarus seeks to raise trade volume with Turkey

SAMSUN - Anatolia News Agency

Belarus aims to increase its trade volume with Turkey to $1 billion, the country's ambassador said Wednesday in the Black Sea province of Samsun.

Speaking during a visit to the province's chamber of commerce and industry, Belarusian Ambassador to Ankara Valery Kolesnik said the trade volume between the two countries had dropped to $266 million due to the global economic crisis.

He said, however, the he hoped this figure could increase to $1 billion.

The ambassador said Turkey and Belarus have signed 21 economic and commercial cooperation agreements between them, most of which focused on improving the economic foundation of their relationship.

Highlighting the customs agreements signed by the two countries, Kolesnik said Turkey and Belarus no longer had any problems regarding customs procedures.
