Rosselkhoznadzor to Authorize Meat Imports from 2 Belarusian plants

Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) reported about lifting the ban on supply of animal products from Oshmyansky Cheese-Making Factory and Slonimsky Meat Processing Plant. The enterprises had provided documents on eliminating of all violations.

Apart from that, Rosselkhoznadzor reports about arrest of some shipments of meat and dairy products from Belarus.

Thus, two consignments of French pork with total weight of 40 tons, 21 tons of French pork fat, 16 tons of chilled beef produced at Pinsky Meat Processing Plant, 20 tons of powder milk made by OAO Molochnye Produkty (Dairy Products), 20 tons of cheese from OAO Mstislavsky Creamery, 15 tons of cheese from Berezovsky Cheese-Making Factory, and one meat shipment with illegible veterinary stamp impressions were arrested in the prior notice station Krasny Kamen from March 30 to April 1.

All products were supplied with violation of Russian veterinary legislation, and thus the cargo was sent back to Belarus.

Currently, 120 Belarusian meat and milk processing enterprises are licensed for product exports to Russia.

Pursuant to 2008 results, total Belarusian food exports turnover reached $2.197 billion (up 24% from 2007), where the Russian Federation's share amounts to 83.5% of the total.
