Viet Nam, Belarus discuss forming new joint ventures

HA NOI - Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai yesterday met Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Aleinik as he arrived in Viet Nam to attend a meeting of the two countries' inter-governmental committee.

Hai welcomed the official and the delegation accompanying him to the meeting, which aims to boost the co-operation in trade, commerce and science and technology between the two countries.

Hai suggested the committee be divided into specific units to foster co-operation in different sectors, especially in electronic technology, machinery and automobile manufacturing. He said that Belarus's enterprises could form joint-ventures to invest in machinery manufacturing in Viet Nam.

Important partner

He also said that Viet Nam's products, such as rice, aquaculture products and coffee had a stable position in the Belarusian market.

In 2009 the two countries needed to double two-way trade turnover compared to the figure in 2008.

The same day, the official talked to chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Foreign Affairs Nguyen Van Son, focusing on measures to tighten the friendship between the two countries.
