Belarus completed mass sowing campaign of spring grains in optimum terms

As of April 25, Belarus completed the mass sowing campaign of spring grains and leguminous plants (without maize), declared the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus.

According to the specialists, the campaign was provided in the optimum agronomical terms. Agrarians sowed spring grains throughout 1.01 mln ha, or 100.2% from planned areas, as opposed to 85% on the same date of the previous year. Grodno, Gomel and Brest oblasts increased the planned sowing rates of spring grains by 9%, 2.6% and 1.1% respectively. Minsk oblast also almost finished the sowing campaign - the agrarians have to sow the last 1.3% of planned sowing areas composed from mainly leguminous plants. Vitebsk oblast has to sow the last 8%. The daily rates of the sowing campaign total nearly 5%, that is why, in the nearest two days all these oblast will complete the filed works.

In general, Belarusian agricultural enterprises sowed spring crops throughout 1.39 mln ha, or 60.2% of planned areas. Grodno oblast showed the highest rates of the sowing campaign, agrarians of the region sowed spring crops throughout 67% of planned areas. Gomel oblast sowed spring crops throughout nearly 61% of planned areas, Minsk oblast - 61.6%, Brest oblast - 60.4%, Mogilev oblast - 55.8%, Vitebsk oblast - 54.8%. The Ministry charged the agricultural economies to finish the sowing campaign of spring crops till April 28, with the exception of heat-loving plants, including maize, buckwheat, soybean and sunflower.

Agrarians nearly completed spring barley sowing campaign, to date the grain occupies 518.500 ha or 98.6%. Agricultural economies of Brest, Vitebsk and Gomel oblasts have already completed the field works.

Agrarians continue spring rapeseed sowing campaign. To date, the sowings occupy nearly 5% from planned areas - 27.200 ha.

Belarus started to provide the second additional fertilizing of winter grains, the works were provided throughout 253.000 ha or 19.5%. Agrarians completed winter rapeseed extranutrition.
