Lukashenko to pass Patriarch Kirill's questions to Pope

Minsk, April 27, Interfax - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko plans to discuss a number of issues that were recently considered at his meeting with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with Pope Benedict XVI in the near future.

"We agreed [with Patriarch Kirill] that I will readdress a number of questions to the Pope. Such a visit [to the Vatican] is being planned, and it could take place," Lukashenko told journalists on Saturday.

Lukashenko suggested that his upcoming visit to the Vatican "is a message to society that we, as the state, equally respect both Orthodox believers and Catholics."
