Dombrovskis and Belarus foreign minister discussed current cooperation issues

Today, on April 22, Prime Minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis (New Era) met with the Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Martynov.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed mostly bilateral economic cooperation issues in such areas as transport and logistics, energy, manufacturing and retail.

Dombrovskis invited Belarus to develop investments in Latvia, as well as to work together in creating energy links between Latvia and Belarus.

Both sides admitted that it is important to develop bilateral cooperation between Latvia and Belarus, and the it is necessary to continue the work of intergovernmental committees.

Discussing economic cooperation, Dombrovskis expressed Latvia's interest in increasing the number of flights between Latvia and Belarus.

The two sides also discussed the necessity to promote cooperation in the transit cargo sector, including Asian countries. Dombrovskis expressed the position that it is important to continue projects that have been started, as well as to develop new projects.

Also during the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to improving the border crossing process.
