Vietnam, Belarus eye long-term cooperation

VietNamNet Bridge - Deputy PM Khiem and visiting Belorussian Foreign Minister Sergey Martynov reached consensus on the need to devise a long-term economic and trade cooperation programme.

During his meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem in Hanoi on April 7, both host and guest agreed that Vietnam and Belarus should carry out concrete measures to accelerate bilateral economic, trade, cultural and tourism ties.

Belarus needs Vietnamese labourers to work in construction and agriculture, said FM S. Martynov.

Both sides need to create favourable conditions for each other so that Belorussian businesses can expand their market to the Southeast Asia from Vietnam and vice versa, Vietnamese businesses can find way to Eastern Europe from Belarus, they said.

Various meetings between leaders of a number of the two countries' ministries and committees also took place on April 7 within the framework of Belorussian President Alexander Lukashenko's official Vietnam visit.
