Belarus expects to receive 21.5 mln tons of Russian oil in 2008

MINSK, April 25 (RIA Novosti) - Belarus plans to receive 21.5 million metric tons of Russian oil in 2008, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov told parliament on Friday.

The oil will be supplied to Belarus as part of deals with large Russian companies, including state-owned Rosneft and the country's largest independent oil producer LUKoil.

"These agreements guarantee a full supply of oil products to the local market," Kobyakov said.

He said 18 million metric tons would be delivered by pipeline, with the remainder by rail.

Belarus has suffered from oil shortages since Russia introduced export duties on crude early last year.
